Project Description

Muscat, Oman

Building Type

The hotel draws it’s inspiration from the rugged natural beauty of the Omani coastline. The experience of being in the golf course headland is one where the undulating form of the mountains on the horizon blends with the rippling waters of the sea.

The building plan is organised as a gently curving arc of a wave, highlighted in elevation by the dramatic ‘floating’ ripple of the roof which creates a lively silhouette against the sky. A ribbon of mashribiya wraps the building’s mid-section, following the curving form and wrapping around the spa and conference facilities to create a special object that calls to mind the traditional Omani Mussar. The masribiya itself is in an organic pattern that resembles the intricate natural form of the coral pattern, connecting the building to the rich sea life of the ocean.
