The Home of the Future is a concept that targets residents of Dubai looking to experience a new lifestyle with a progressive mind-set. The design draws inspiration from the principles of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s 50th year Charter. It is affordable, smart, sustainable and self-sufficient. Kettle Collective explored numberous design solutions covering different strategies for architecture, structure, sustainability, cooling, smart technologies, cost and accreditation.
The Home of the Future is highly flexible living space, with the ability to be configured to suit different lifestyles. With the emergence of social media and technology in the past decade, the notion of space has evolved and as a consequence more compact and “virtual” environments are increasingly in demand. In parallel, there is a growing sense that busy and expensive lifestyles are unsustainable at both an ecological and personal level. The Home of the Future provides a family-focused environment to live a healthy lifestyle.
