The garden was created for Artfe to celebrate ‘Agroforestry’- essentially trees combined with agriculture. The symbiotic relationship of tree planting with either pastoral or arable farming often results in better soil, better biodiversity and better yields. A circular relationship is created, with trees providing shelter, shade and fodder for the livestock, roots aerate the soil improving biodiversity, whilst the animals create waste that enriches the soil.

Our concept was to create a garden that would celebrate this symbiotic relationship whilst creating a space that would allow the Artfe sculpture’s attitude, sense of fun, and sheer romance to come through. The garden sees romantic woodland planting providing a setting for the animals, free to roam amongst the reclaimed and repurposed farming and industrial materials, creating a fun woodland garden with attitude!
