Usama presented his talk on a previous project at this weeks Friday Forum.
This Friday Forum topic covered the preliminary design stages of a private villa in one of Muscat’s coastal suburbs. The site (30m above sea level and 15m wide by 41.3m long) sits on a rock peninsula facing North West and opens up elevated and uninterrupted views of the Gulf of Oman. Exploiting the site’s geographical position has influenced the building’s design and program arrangement. The design aims to maintain the captivating view of the ocean throughout the house from the moment it is accessed. The presentation also expressed some of the many challenges faced by the design team, but of course, in the name of design and architecture, nothing got in the way - even if it meant hoping on a jet-ski to complete a photographic survey. – Usama Al Kindi
