Majid Al Futtaim Mosque

The design of the Majid Al Futtaim Mosque blends contemporary architecture with elements of traditional Islamic architecture.
A simple limestone clad rectilinear form, seemingly carved to feature faceted layered archways, forming either the entrance gallery, female entrance, street side retail, or a colonnaded Imam’s entry. Embellishing these archways are the ghaf leaf geometric pattern, either debossed into the stone cladding, or in the form of aluminium mashrabiya screens.
This same mashrabiya pattern is featured in the mosque’s dome and minaret - the dome itself is an open mashrabiya dome, allowing light to filter through the prayer hall rooflight underneath, while the minaret features an open mashrabiya lantern top, illuminated at night as a beacon for night time worshippers.
